After years of legal dispute, the German Digital Library has reached an amicable agreement with the collecting society Bild-Kunst (VG Bild-Kunst) regarding the display of works of fine art from its repertoire. As an aggregator, the German Digital Library does not have to take any technical measures against the "framing" of images by third parties for the works displayed on its portals.

Angesichts eines Jahres, das erneut von Unsicherheit, Erschütterung, Aggression geprägt war, fällt es schwer, einen stimmungsvollen Jahresrückblick zu schreiben. Angesichts unruhiger Zeiten sind wir sehr dankbar, mit der Deutschen Digitalen Bibliothek ein Vorhaben voranzutreiben, das Kulturerbe für alle verfügbar macht. Was für eine wunderbare Aufgabe! In diesem Sinne blicken wir auf das Jahr 2023 zurück.

The committees of the German Digital Library have decided to expand the competence network from 15 to 18 members. The three new institutions, the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, the Deutsches Museum and the LWL-Archivamt für Westfalen, are intended to strengthen the museum and archive sectors.
