This declaration on accessibility applies to the website of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (German Digital Library) published at https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de.
As a public body within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, we strive to make our websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Act on Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities (BGG) and the Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) for the implementation of Directive (EU) 2016/2102.
Compatibility status with the requirements
Due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions the website is only partially compatible with the accessibility regulations that apply to us.
Inaccesible content
The hereafter mentioned content is not accessible for the following reasons:
Bookviewer
The Bookviewer, which can be opened on some objects (e.g. https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/item/5CB24X6V5PKJQIQX32HP6LMTPJJO4AXR), is not accessible. The Bookviewer is an external component that is currently not being maintained and that can only be changed with great effort. We plan to exchange the current Bookviewer with an accessible equivalent by the end of 2025.
Alternative text for control elements
Some images in the article teasers do not have an alternative text that describes the link target (the article). They describe the teaser image instead. We are constantly making adjustements to the editorial content to remove these barriers.
Alternative text for graphics and objects
Some images in the article teaser or games contain alternative texts that are either too long or do not describe the teaser image. We are constantly making adjustements to the editorial content to remove these barriers.
Logical sequence
The hierarchy „Related objects“ on some object pages (e.g. https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/item/IXLEWIXWVVPHVI565YVZV6U3RPYKJJMW) is reproduced in the wrong order. A concept to adjust this component is in the works.
Labeling of words and paragraphs in other languages
Titles in teasers of editorial content may contain words in another language which are not marked as such. To enable this, elaborate changes to the content management system need to be undertaken. These changes are planned for the end of 2025.
Date of Creation and Latest Update of the Declaration
This declaration was created on 04/14/2023 and last updated on 05/06/2024.
