Nanni di Bartolo hat immer noch mit Donatello eng zusammengearbeitet, als er dieses Relief schuf, das von Dynamik des letzteren Künstlers erfüllt ist: Jesus nimmt die Kugel, wahrscheinlich ein Apfel, mit dem er spielt von seiner Mutter. Nanni di Bartolo was still a close collaborator of Donatello when he made this relief, which is full of the dynamism of the latter artist: Jesus takes away from his mother the sphere, possibly an apple, he is playing with. The seat of the Virgin is of antique inspiration, like the fragment of architectural decoration one can see on the left side.
