Vor 200 Jahren waren Bücher etwas besonders. Büchern waren teuer. Viele Menschen konnten sich keine Bücher kaufen. Deswegen waren Bibliotheken beliebt. Hier konnten die Menschen Bücher ausleihen. Damals entstand die Idee für Bücher-Busse. Die Bücher-Busse sollten Bücher zu allen Menschen bringen.

Heute ist Bewegung mit Fahrzeugen selbstverständlich. Wir fahren mit dem Auto, Zug, Flugzeug und vieles mehr. Früher war das anders. Manche Menschen sind mit dem Pferd geritten. Aber Pferde waren teuer und viele konnten kein Pferd bezahlen. Menschen ohne Pferd mussten zu Fuß gehen. Das war anstrengend und dauert lange. Aber dann wurde das Fahrrad erfunden.

The Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Berlin State Library – Prussian Cultural Heritage) is one of the most important libraries worldwide. It is a centre for the supply of national and international literature. Nearly 12 million volumes alone starting from the year 1661 comprises its accumulated printed inventory. Additionally, another 2.2 million printed works and often unique materials are in the special collections and in addition to this over 12.5 million photos, slides and other photographic material as well as over 5.4 million AV materials, microforms and other material.

The industry meeting, which is both a networking meeting and a training event with numerous workshops, discussions and lectures as well as a large trade exhibition, is organised by Bibliothek und Information Deutschland (BID) (Library and Information Germany) and the Verein Deutscher Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare (Association of German Librarians) (VDB).
