Die Brandente lebt vorwiegend im Wattenmeer. Sie beherrscht mehrere Praktiken zur Nahrungsaufnahme, unter anderem das "Trampeln" und "Schnattern". Beim "Schnattern" wird durch kurzfristiges Öffnen und Schließen des Schnabels Schlammwasser durchgepreßt und nach Nahrungspartikeln filtriert.
The common shelduck lives in the mud flats. It practises several kinds of feeding, among other "trampling" and "gabbling". In "gabbling" mud water is filtrated for food particles by short opening and closing of the beak.
