Mitteleuropa, Osttirol - Krapfenschnappern

Am Nachmittag und Abend des Allerheiligentages laufen in Kals am Großglockner die Kinder von Haus zu Haus und sammeln Krapfen, Süßigkeiten oder Geld. Sie kündigen sich mit dem Geklapper, eigentlich Schnappern, ihrer "Krapfenschnapper" an und verabschieden sich mit einem "Vergelt's Gott für die Armen Seelen". (Vgl. Film E 3045 und E 3046).
The movie was filmed on All-Saints Day at Kals on the foot of the Großglockner-mountain in Austria (Eastern Tyrol). It shows the procession and the visit at the graveyard where people pray. Afterwards small children and school children do "Krapfenschnappern" during afternoon and evening. This souling custom, in connection with religious ideas, is used "to help the poor souls".
