Ottaviano Petrucci (1466-1539) gilt als Erfinder des Notendrucks mit beweglichen Metalltypen und als erster Musikverleger. Das umfangreichste seiner mehrteiligen Musiksammelwerke waren die von 1504 bis 1514 erschienenen "Frottole" in 11 Büchern. Die Bayerische Staatsbibliothek besitzt davon, zum Teil als Unica, die Bücher 1 bis 9. Buch 10 ist nicht überliefert. Petrucci fasst unter dem Titel Frottole sehr verschiedene Dichtungsgattungen zusammen. Es handelt sich um Vorgänger des Madrigals, weltliche Lieder in italienischer Sprache aus der Zeit von ca. 1480 bis ca. 1530. Die vier Stimmen sind nach Art der Chorbücher auf zwei gegenüberliegenden Seiten angeordnet. Petruccis Musikdrucke zeichnen sich durch besondere typographische Qualität und Schönheit aus. Notenlinien, Noten und Text wurden nacheinander gedruckt, was höchste Präzision beim Zusammenfügen der Druckformen und während des Druckvorgangs erforderte. // Autor: Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, Musikabteilung // Datum: 2016
Englische Version: Ottaviano Petrucci (1466-1539) is considered the inventor of musical printing with movable metal types and the first publisher of sheet music. The most comprehensive of his multi-part musical collections were the Frottole in eleven books, published between 1504 and 1514. The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Bavarian State Library) owns, some of them as unica, the books one to nine. Book ten is not preserved. Petrucci combined very different poetic genres under the title of Frottole. These are predecessors of the Madrigal, secular songs in Italian from about 1480 to about 1530. The four voices are arranged on two opposite pages in accordance with the style of the choral books. Petrucci's printed music is distinguished by their outstanding typographic quality and beauty.
