Criollo (Venezuela, Carabobo) - Tanz der Hirten in Mariara

In der Weihnachtszeit führt die Kreolenbevölkerung ein Hirtenspiel auf dem Kirchplatz auf. Mit bunten Bändern geschmückte Männer, teilweise als Frauen verkleidet, tanzen dabei vor der Figur des Christkindes zur Begleitung von Gitarre, Stabreibtrommel, Schraper und Gefäßflöte.
The film shows the dance of the shepherds in honour of Jesus' birth. The performance takes place in front of the church in Mariara (Carabobo) during Christmas time. Criollo men, adorned with colourful ribbons and partly dressed as women, dance to the sound of a guitar, a friction drum, a scraper and a globular flute.
