„Recht und kulturelles Erbe im digitalen Zeitalter“ – Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek veröffentlicht dritte Folge ihrer Thementrailerreihe

"The Law and Cultural Heritage in the Digital Age" – Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek releases the third episode in their thematic trailer series

30.11.2015

The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek began their thematic trailer series "Culture and Knowledge Online" in 2013. In the short films, various aspects which are relevant for guaranteeing every citizen digital access to cultural and scientific heritage over the long term are presented and illustrated.

The first thematic trailer on the occasion of the "Shaping Access! More Responsibility for Cultural Heritage" Conference in the Jüdisches Museum Berlin in 2013 shows diverse viewpoints on the digitisation discourse as well as short statements about the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek. The second thematic trailer is dedicated to the presentation of the first complete version of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek in the Berliner Gemäldegalerie on the 31st of March 2014.

The third and latest episode in the thematic trailer series addresses the legal aspects of digitising cultural heritage and making it available. Under which conditions can cultural institutions meet the obligations of their task of creating access to culture online as well? How can online users be provided with more assurance about whether and under which conditions digital contents may be used? Which activities is the DDB developing in this area?

Brochures, sample texts, the  "Digital Cultural Memory" think tank, a book series dedicated to the topic from diverse perspectives, workshops for cultural institutions, the use of Creative Commons licenses on their web site – these are the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek's multifaceted answers and fields of action.

The thematic trailer "The Law and Cultural Heritage in the Digital Age" presents this range of topics and how extensive the facets that touch on legal questions are.
