Deutschlandweit einzigartig, dokumentiert die Sammlung der Arbeitsgruppe Biologiedidaktik die Verbindung des Biologieunterrichts zur universitären Ausbildung. Die Sammlung wird in Lehre und Forschung in den Studiengängen Biologie Lehramt für Gymnasien und Regelschule eingesetzt. Darüber hinaus unterstützt sie Referendare und Lehrkräfte, die für ihren Unterricht Sammlungsobjekte ausleihen können. Der Bestand der Sammlung reicht bis in die 1950er Jahre zurück. Er umfasst unter anderem Gips-, Wachs- und Kunststoffmodelle von Pflanzen und Tieren oder deren Teile sowie Nass- und Trockenpräparate. Hinzu kommen Rollkarten, Dias und Filme. Ein Großteil der insgesamt weit über 1000 Sammlungsobjekte ist erschlossen und in einer Online-Datenbank zugänglich.
