Trichoplax adhaerens F. E. Schulze is a flat, flagellated organism, with its systematic position at the basis of Metazoa. The film shows animals in degenerative phase containing egg cells. Different stages of growth of the eggs are presented. In the larger eggs the nucleus and its nucleolus are recognizable. Isolated eggs show a special envelope ("fertilization membrane"). Different stages of cleavage are also presented.
