Grüne Kröten (Wechselkröten) einer auch lichtaktiven Population. Je nach Größe der Tiere ist die Stimmlage verschieden. Bei einer Ansammlung zahlreicher Männchen sind hauptsächlich Abwehrlaute bei Interaktionen zu hören; nur gelegentlich kommt ein Tier dazu, recht kurz den Paarungsruf zu äußern. Die Männchen reagieren durch Anschwimmen, sobald sie die Bewegungen des Artgenossen sehen, seine Paarungsrufe hören, oder wenn beim Schwimmen erzeugte Wasserwellen auf den Körper treffen.
The daytime call of male toads call in open waters with hardly any plant growth. Several shots show single males calling in their typical calling posture. As they emit their long mating calls made up of many impulses the guttural sound bubble appears strikingly. The second part of the film shows numerous interactions between calling males. A number of males can be heard as they react to attempts by members of the same species to clasp them by letting out a characteristic struggling call to be freed.
