Masakin (Ostafrika, Kordofan) - Herstellen von Sandalen aus Rinderhaut

Ein Sandalenmacher weicht ein Stück Rinderhaut in Wasser ein und vergräbt sie über Nacht in der Erde. Am nächsten Tag klopft er sie mit einem Stein aus, zerschneidet sie in zwei Sohlenstücke und zwei lange Riemen. Unter häufigem Maßnehmen an den eigenen Füßen fertigt er die Sandalen an, indem er den Riemen durch die Seitenteile und die Spitze des Sohlenstückes zieht. Die Außenseite der Rinderhaut bildet das Innere der Sandalen.
A sandal maker soaks a piece of neat's skin in water and buries it overnight in the ground. The next day he pounds it with a stone, cuts out two soles and two long thongs and, taking his own feet's measurements, attaches the thongs to the soles.
