Kirchturm von Süden (Gegründet um Jahr 1200)-mittleres Geschoß mit Schlitzscharten sowie Glockengeschoss mit Biforium und Rundbogenfries

Architektur

Gegründet zu romanischer Zeit im 12. Jh. haben sowohl Kirchturm wie auch Langhaus bis in unsere Zeit überdauert. Überarbeitungen in der gotischen Zeit und besonders erneuerte und starke Umbaumaßnahmen im 19. Jh. haben vor allem das Langhaus in seinem Stil stark überformt (auch das Dach ist erhöht worden). Indes weist der Kirchturm als krönenden Abschluß ein für diese Gegend typisches „Rundkirchendach“ auf, welche stilistisch aus der Gründungszeit stammt: Besonders viele Ritter des Bistums Worms nahmen an den Kreuzzügen teil, und die wenigen Rückkehrer stifteten Kirchen mit Stilelementen der Rundkirchen im Heiligen Land. Die wehrhafte Kirchhofmauer wurde nach Aufgabe des Kirchhofes als begräbnisplatz völlig abgetragen. Founded in the Romanesque time of the 12th century, still the church tower and nave are original out from that. However, the nave doesn’t look very Romanesque anymore, while changes during the Gothic period and especially the 19th century transforms the origin style completely. In church tower shows a roof, which is called “round church roof” in accordance to the architectural style of the holy land. While a lot of the nobles of the bishopric of Worms, who followed the call to arms and the crusades stayed there forever, the returners donated churches inspired with that stile. When the courtyard was taken out of serving as a cemetery, is was “cleaned up” and also the fortified wall with battlement was laid down.
