IntelliDrug - controlled, oral drug delivery system as tooth implant
Abstract: IntelliDrug was the name of a project aiming the development of an Intelligent Drug delivery system that is implantable into the human oral cavity. Within the development of the system, two major novelties in the field of portable drug delivery systems were focused. One challenge was the investigation of a new drug delivery route to the body through the buccal mucosa. A second challenge was the technological realization of the miniaturized device itself. The main targeted application of the IntelliDrug system is the therapy of drug addiction with naltrexone and more general the long-term treatment of chronic diseases
Abstract: IntelliDrug ist ein Projekt, welches die Entwicklung eines intelligenten Medikamentendosiersytems (engl.: Intelligent Drug delivery system), welches in die menschliche Mundhöhle implantiert werden kann. Im Zuge der Entwicklung des Systems standen zwei maßgebliche Neuerungen auf dem Gebiet der tragbaren Medikamentendosiersysteme im Mittelpunkt. Eine Herausforderung stellte dieErforschung eines neuen Verabreichungsweges für Medikamente durch die orale Backenschleimhaut dar. Eine weitere Herausforderung stellte die technologische Umsetzung des miniaturisierten Systems an sich dar. Die vorrangige Zielanwendung des IntelliDrug Systems stellt die Drogen-Entwöhnungstherapie mittels Naltrexon und im weiteren Sinne die Langzeitbehandlung von chronischen Krankheiten dar
