Anne Mühlich and Gerd Müller have experienced constant ups and downs during their CdV scholarships. In their interim report, they tell about the obstacles and surprises they encountered right from the beginning of their work. But also about how they were able to take heart after a change of plan. And last but not least, they present an interim result that is something to be proud of: the "MaaS", a "Media Station as a Service", which, in principle, every cultural institution can set up itself in three simple steps and use.

A visit to Göttingen

At the beginning of their scholarship, Anne and Gerd travelled to Göttingen to view the originals of the botanical drawings on which their application was based, together with the local custodian Karsten Heck. They also visited the construction site of the "Forum Wissen" (“Knowledge Forum”) together, since "Plantala" was actually going to be used as a media station at the exhibition being developed there – actually. As it turned out, however, the project, unfortunately, couldn’t be realised after all. A bitter setback for Anne and Gerd, since this media station was the central focal point for the planned further development of "Plantala".

A new plan

But those of you who know Anne and Gerd know that these two are not so easily discouraged. And indeed, a workshop with the yaw!-Kollektiv with design-thinking elements helped the team to gain new perspectives and ideas for their project. Thus, Anne and Gerd now concentrated on reworking the web application – and have already developed a great key feature.

The MaaS

With the "Media Station as a Service", all cultural institutions now have the possibility to convert "Plantala" quite simply with their own pictures into their own media station. Three simple steps, which are also comprehensible to the not so technically-experienced user, lead to one’s own mandala generator.
