Virtual kick-off meeting of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek's Fachstelle Denkmalpflege

18.01.2023 Fachstelle Denkmalpflege

In addition to millions of books, archival records, works of art, audio and film documents, the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek portal provides access to data on listed buildings, gardens or entire complexes generated by heritage offices.

In order to be able to handle data deliveries from the field of monument preservation in a subject-specific manner and to be able to support data partners accordingly, the Department of Monument Preservation was established as one of six subject-specific departments of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek.

Monument offices are supported here in the registration and delivery of their specialised data and advised on questions of standardisation. In this way, listed buildings and other objects falling within the scope of heritage conservation can be made more visible beyond the region and networked with objects from other sectors. Since 2022, the specialist unit has been based at the Deutsches Dokumentationszentrum für Kunstgeschichte (German Documentation Centre for Art History) with the support of the Denkmalfachämter (Association of Monuments Offices) in the Federal States - Photo Archive Foto Marburg in Marburg.

At a virtual kick-off meeting, we would like to present the work of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and the Department of Monument Preservation and enable participants to get to know the processes involved and the work that has been done so far. In addition, the organisational structure of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek Portal is explained. In the workshop report of the Monument Preservation Unit, we look back on work started in 2022, with a focus on the conversion of the delivery format from DenkXWeb to LIDO. The programme is completed by a report on the experience of the Landesdenkmalamt Berlin (Berlin State Monuments Office) of the previous data providers. Finally, there is the opportunity for questions and further discussion.

The tentative programme includes:

Welcome and introduction - Christian Bracht, with greeting by Georg Skalecki

About the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek- Denise Baumgart

Workshop Report of the Monument Preservation Unit - Julia Rössel

The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek from the perspective of the data providers - Juliane Stamm
