Reihe „Kultur und Wissen online“: Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek startet Thementrailer-Reihe

“Culture and knowledge online” – Launch of Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek series of themed films

26.02.2014

Last year the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek launched a series of videos bearing the umbrella title of “Culture and knowledge online”. The short videos will illustrate the breadth and depth of the areas in which the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek is active.

The first video focuses on the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek in its role as host of conferences addressing issues of digitisation and access to cultural heritage in the digital sphere.

The stimulus for the film was provided by the international “Shaping Access! - More Responsibility for Cultural Heritage” conference, which was held from 28th to 29th November 2013 in the Jewish Museum in Berlin and was the first conference to be co-hosted by the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek. The General Manager of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, Frank Frischmuth, commented: “It’s important for us to be taking part in the ‘Shaping Access’ conference and also to be co-hosting it, since we want to be involved in the discussion, and the organisation of the discussion, surrounding the participation of cultural and scientific institutions in the world of digital technology.”

The first video in the series presents a range of positions in the digitisation dialogue and a series of short statements on the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek.
