Presentation of first full version of Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB) – Photos and footage of public information event

31.3.2014 marked the presentation of the first full version of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB). The public event was the largest event organised by the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek on its own account. Over 300 of Germany’s culture and media professionals, policy makers and representatives from scientific institutions converged on the Gemäldegalerie (Gallery of Old Masters) to learn about the current state of development of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek. The launch was also a chance for project managers, supporters and associates of the DDB to exchange information and ideas.

The guests were greeted by Hermann Parzinger, President of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation) and Spokesperson for the Board of the DDB Competence Network, Monika Grütters, MdB and Minister of State for Culture and the Media, Brunhild Kurth, Vice-President of the Conference of Education Ministers and Saxon Minister for Culture, and Jill Cousins, Executive Director, Europeana Foundation (in order of address).

The first fully-fledged version of the DDB was then presented by Frank Frischmuth, Director of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, Dr. Uwe Müller, Head of Project Coordination, Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and Matthias Razum, Department Manager e-Science and Project Manager for the DDB at FIZ Karlsruhe.

After the presentations participants had an opportunity to learn about and discuss the activities of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek. Key information was provided by representatives from the Service Centre and specialised departments of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek that liaise with cultural and scientific institutions.
