Architektur

Die Romanische Gründung wurde im 15 Jh durch einen Neubau der Kirche (Langhaus mit Dachturm als Glockenträger) sowie der starken, von Schwippbögen verstärkten Kirchhofmauer sowie einem Torturm. Im frühen 17 Jh Überarbeitung der Kirche unter Fürstbischof Julius Echter von Würzburg im Rahmen der „Gegenreformation“ („Re-Katholisierung“). Weitere Veränderungen im 18 Jh, schließlich Aufstockung des Torturms mit einer Glockenstube. Im 19 Jh wurde der Wehrgang der Kirchhofmauer abgetragen; letztere im Norden, Westen und Süden weitgehend erhalten. Im 20 Jh Süderweiterung des Langhauses sowie Abtragung der Kirchhofmauer im Osten zur Ortsseite. Founded in Romanesque time within the 12th century, the church was rebuild within the 15th century, whereby the new nave got a roof-turret as bell tower. The defense was rebuild in a strong and tremendous was: The curtain was reinforced at the inner side by additional archways as base for the strong battlement; finally a gate tower was added. In the early 17th century the church was overworked by Prince Bishop Julius Echter of Würzburg, when he run his program of the „Counter-Reformation“ (or „Re-Katholization“); further overwork was done to nave in the 18th century, and finally the gate tower got a bell house on top. In the 19th century, the battlement was removed, and the 20th century saw the curtain in the East to be removed and replaced by a super market, while in the North, West and South the strong curtain is already present.
