Weltrettungskompetenz? Überlegungen zu BNE aus der Perspektive der sozial-ökologischen Transformationsforschung

Abstract: Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung (BNE) stößt als bildungspolitisches Konzept auf wachsendes Interesse in Bildungseinrichtungen, Wissenschaft und Zivilgesellschaft. Es gibt, national wie international, unzählige Initiativen und Institutionen, die BNE propagieren und praktizieren. Gemeinsam sind ihnen zwei Aspekte: die Erwartung, dass Wissen erwünschtes Handeln hervorbringt und die Orientierung auf Gestaltungskompetenz. Der Artikel erörtert, ob mangelndes Wissen das entscheidende Hemmnis für eine gesellschaftliche Transformation in Richtung Nachhaltigkeit ist, diskutiert Kompetenzorientierung als Form der Subjektivierung von Nachhaltigkeit und argumentiert, dass beides zur Entpolitisierung beiträgt. Abstract: Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is attracting growing interest as an educational policy concept in educational institutions, science, and civil society. There are countless initiatives and institutions, nationally and internationally, that practice ESD. They have two aspects in common: the expectation that knowledge will produce desired action and the orientation towards Gestaltungskompetenz. The article discusses whether a lack of knowledge is the crucial obstacle to a societal transformation towards sustainability, describes competence orientation as a form of subjectification of sustainability, and argues that both contribute to depoliticization.
