Das Fortpflanzungsverhalten der Roten Prachtlibelle und ihre Populationsschwankungen innerhalb der Flugsaison von April bis Oktober wurden in Südfrankreich erforscht und gefilmt. Zeitlupenaufnahmen (bis 500 B/s) dokumentieren Droh- und Werbeflug. Details der Paarung werden in extremen Makroaufnahmen gezeigt. Durch eine besondere Unterwassertechnik konnten z. B. Balzaufnahmen mit Weitwinkel aus ungewöhnlichen Perspektiven und auch die Eiablage unter Wasser gefilmt werden. Trickaufnahmen erläutern die Morphologie der Kopulationsorgane, die Vorgänge während der Kopulation (z. B. Samenersatz) und die Befruchtung eines Eies.
