Técnica y educación desde un saber como techné a una tecnología del cuerpo

The purpose of this paper is based on an exploration into the notion of body technique at different times in the occidental history, regarding it within a broader concept in relation to technique in general, and therefore related to the world of work, science and education. Looking at the history of the practices with the body, we see that the concept of technique varies according to the studied period, just as the works that different cultures do about the use of the body. Our exploration will refer to ancient Greece, with its concept of techné; the Middle Ages and the Modern Period as a crucial stage where physical education was born. Our aim in this paper is to rescue the notion of body technique as a broad concept, present in every human activity, valuing it as a traditional human construction in what refers to the uses of the body. This vision is an attempt not to reduce the concept of technique to that of a technology of the body, loyal to a technicality that has been dominant since the end of the XIX century and is very much present in education.
