"Der Zug des Bacchus" dürfte als Teil einer Raumausstattung entstanden sein. Bacchus, Gott des Weines und der Fruchtbarkeit, erscheint auf einem von Panthern gezogenen Triumphwagen, begleitet von Nymphen und Satyrn und gefolgt von dem betrunkenen Silen auf einem Esel. Während die Vielzahl elegant bewegter Figuren die große Tradition der neapolitanischen Barockmalerei erkennen lässt, weist die helle, bisweilen kühle Farbigkeit de Muras bereits auf den Klassizismus voraus.| Prestel-Museumsführer - Gemäldegalerie Berlin, 2017 ________________________________________ "The Procession of Bacchus" must have been painted as part of an interior decor. Bacchus, god of wine and fertility, appears in a triumphal chariot drawn by panthers, accompanied by nymphs and satyrs and followed by the drunken Silenus on a donkey.
