Flußkrebs. Aus dem Häutungsspalt, der quer über dem Rücken des Tieres zwischen Carapax und 1. Abdominalsegment aufplatzt, befreit das Tier mit peristaltischen Bewegungen zuerst den Vorderkörper mit allen Extremitäten, dann den Schwanz.
The exuviation (ecdysis) of Astacus fluviatilis, the normal European crayfish, is a relatively fast process, lasting a few minutes. The preparation phase, proecdysis, in which a new exoskeleton is grown under the old one, as well as the end phase, postecdysis, in which the new shell becomes hard, last considerably longer. The time between pro- and postecdysis is called interecdysis.
