Movimientos sociales y aparato de poder: el caso canadiense

El presente ensayo examina las condiciones que determinan la dinámica de los movimientos sociales en Canadá. Se pone particular énfasis en procesos de formación de identidades sociales, el tipo de demandas que nuevos actores platean, la naturaleza de sus alianzas y la manera en que estructuras tradicionales de poder tales como agencias estatales, partidos políticos y sindicatos responden a tales demandas.
This paper explores the conditions that shape social movements and their politics in Canada. Emphasis is placed on processes of identity formation, coalition-building among new social actors and on the kind of responses that their demands receive from traditional power structures such as state agencies, political parties and organized labour.
