The development of young gerbils is shown from the day of birth until they start to run about in the terrarium with the eyes still closed. Grooming activities of the mother such as suckling the young, licking their anal region and their snout, carrying them back into the nest are shown along with first cleaning activities of the young and their great need for bodily contact.
