Phytolinguistik im Urban Jungle: kulturpoetische Überlegungen zu Zimmerpflanzen

Abstract: This essay explores a cultural poetic perspective on houseplants. The aim is to conceptualize a cultural form of the metaphorical ‚phytolinguistics‘ imagined by literary writer Ursula K. Le Guin. To this end, the phenomenon of houseplants is examined bymaking use of a variety of poetological and aesthetic concepts that highlight the complex relations between nature and culture in the Anthropocene. It takes inspiration from Raphaela Edelbauer’s poetics of discovery, Daniel Falb’s concept of the PoemPhone, David Farrier’s idea of a “Poetics of Kin-Making” inspired by Donna J. Haraway, and an anthropocene aesthetics of the everyday life identified by Heinz Drügh and Moritz Baßler in Leif Randt’s novel Allegro Pastell
