"Jäger" stellen sich im Kreis auf, mit der "Oryx-Antilope" in der Mitte, die gegen ihre Verfolger Angriffe und Scheinangriffe vorführt. Die "Jäger" versuchen, diesen durch Gegenbewegungen zu entgehen, aber auch sie zu treffen (strikter Rhythmus durch Fußstampfen und lautes Exhalieren). Bei dem Spiel kam es zu einer langen Auseinandersetzung.
A group of men, assembled more or less in a circle, are playing the gemsbok game with one of them, the "gemsbok", in the centre. He mounts attacks and mok-attacks against his assailants, the "hunters", who try to anticipate his intention and not only carry out the correct counter movements, but who also bait him. All this is done in a dancing manner, in accordance with a strict rhythmic pattern, produced by the vocal accompaniment of the players. When one of the "hunters" runs a course which crosses the path of another, who is the target of the "gemsbok", the game is stopped with loud words of protest. The new game that then starts becomes more co-ordinated and aesthetically more beautiful.
