Doing theology and philosophy in the African context : = Faire la théologie et la philosophie en contexte africain

ENGLISH: Teaching and research of theology and philosophy in Africa is facing serious challenges: Contents and methods of study programmes are often coined by European universalism. Tertiary institutions depend largely on foreign funding. The concrete questions of the people in the African societies which suffer from a variety of marginalization processes are hardly taken into consideration by the traditional theological and philosophical teaching. This compilation attempts at analyzing the situation and suggests a closer collaboration between African tertiary institutions as well as a reappropriation of the African traditional heritage. DEUTSCH: Die Situation von Lehre und Forschung in Theologie und Philosophie in Afrika birgt große Herausforderungen: Aufbau und Inhalt der Studien sind häufig vom europäischen Universalismus geprägt, die Institutionen hängen finanziell von externen Geldgebern in Europa und den USA ab. Die konkreten existentiellen Fragen der afrikanischen Gesellschaften, die vielfachen Marginalisierungsprozessen unterworfen sind, geraten jedoch kaum in den Blick. Das vorliegendes Buch versucht eine Analyse der Situation und schlägt als Perspektive eine verstärkte Kooperation der afrikanischen Hochschulen sowie eine höhere Wertschätzung der traditionellen afrikanischen Kulturen vor.
