LADUMA MADELA, the witch doctor, sits in front of a hut of his Kral and blows a bugle to call his assistant to him. The two men have a recitative conversation about the rain magic. In the next sequence a small child is diagnosed by MADELA with oracle bones and then treated by inhaling, stretching and symbolic striking with the frond. Previously the questionanswer dialogue about the entrance fee takes place between MADELA and the child's mother; the assistant takes the place of the child's father in this.
