Los rumbos de la educación superior: tendencias y desafíos

Este artículo analiza la educación superior de nuestros días a la luz de los más importantes cambios que recorren todos los ámbitos de la vida social de fin de siglo: la globalización económica, la redefinición del papel del Estado y la revolución científico-tecnológica. El texto se centra en las cinco palancas fundamentales que están transformando a la educación superior: la aplicación tecnológica a la vida académica, la movilidad real y virtual de estudiantes y profesores, el imperativo de la educación permanente, el acercamiento al ámbito laboral y el nuevo papel de maestros y alumnos en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. De igual modo, el artículo analiza algunas de las consecuencias de estas transformaciones y señala la importancia de los estudios de posgrado como eje clave de los nuevos rumbos de la educación superior.
This article analyses college education today in the light of the most important changes under- gone in most spaces of the social life at the end of the century: economic globalisation, the redefinition cf the role of the State and the scientific and technological revolution. The text is focused in five .. adamental forces which are transforming college education: the technological applicatlon to academic Ufe, real and virtual mobility of students and teachers, the im- perative of permanent education, the greater interaction with working spaces and the new role of teachers and students in the process of leaming-teaching. Likewise, the article analyses so- me of the consequences of these changes and points out the importance of posgraduate stu- dies to articúlate and find new paths for university education.
