Strategy 2020

It is a considerable and constant task to establish a comprehensive and sustainable information infrastructure to make cultural and knowledge heritage accessible, and for this to be linked and presented. The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek’s Strategy 2020 formulates guidelines for this and describes the necessary working focuses.

Starting from the vision of creating the central platform for culture and knowledge in Germany and from the definition of the strategic aims and target groups, priorities and measures are derived which should determine the actions in the next five years: more cultural data of a better quality and the development into a data platform are central to this. Accompanied by supporting measures such as, for example, the development of advisory services and working towards better framework conditions, the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, together with strong partners, wants to make the cultural heritage of all German cultural and knowledge institutions permanently accessible throughout the world.

The basis of the publication is the Detailed Strategy Plan 2015-2020. This is the result of an extensive strategy process undergone by the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek’s staff, as well as Members of its Board and together with the entire “Kompetenznetzwerk Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek” (competence network) plus external experts. Under the direction of a core group, the common aims and planned measures were thereby formulated comprehensively and serve as a basis for detailed implementation concepts.

The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek’s Strategy 2020 is available in printed and electronic form (PDF) in German and English. It will be sent free of charge or can be downloaded.
