The German Digital Library at the Genealogists’ Day 2024

For the first time, the German Digital Library is taking part in one of the largest annual specialist congresses for family researchers in Germany. In 2024, the German Genealogists' Day will take place in Berlin, and around 750 participants are expected. The German Digital Library will participate with a lecture, support the congress as a partner in organizing it, and present itself at the accompanying trade exhibition.

Eine interessante Aussage – zum einen ist sie falsch, zum anderen transportiert sie das Bild der verrückten alten Dame, die allein mit unzähligen Katzen lebt. Was natürlich als Beleidigung gemeint ist. Aber warum eigentlich?

They are historical recipes, the oldest dating back to 1791 - the year in which Olympe de Gouges wrote the ‘Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Citizen’ in Paris. We recreated four historical Christmas cookie recipes for you. The (not so) oridinairy krumkakes even come with video instructions. So put on your apron, put on Rolf Zuckowski and off you go!

Via its new online portal “Collections from Colonial Contexts”, the German Digital Library (Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek) offers centralised access to digitalised collections from colonial contexts in all German cultural and academic institutions. The new portal is particularly intended for people from the countries and communities of origin and provides information about the items and their history in German, English and French.
