Our DDBforum: Information, Workshop Reports, Discussions, Exchanges

22.05.2018
DDBforum

Once or twice a year the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek’s (German Digital Library’s) teams from Frankfurt, Berlin, Stuttgart, Dresden, Göttingen, Brandenburg a.d.H. and Karlsruhe organise joint meetings: we spend time together to talk about our work and to get to know possible new colleagues and the “old” colleagues even better. We make plans, exchange ideas and discuss our work.

The desire for a more intensive exchange of expertise between the teams and colleagues was taken up from the last conference in autumn 2017 and the idea was to jointly develop a network event. An event where not only the staff of the DDB can engage and interact, but also one to which all of those colleagues who work together with the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and its topics are invited.

The”“DDBforum” was created: a network event aimed at our partners as well as at colleagues from the cultural, technical/technological and digital sectors. In addition to presentations of current and future DDB projects the DDBforum offers many opportunities for the informal exchange of expertise. Relevant topics on linking cultural data and making them accessible will be discussed in workshop reports, discussions and workshops: data quality and standards, contextualisation and usage scenarios, interfaces and aggregators, licencing and open data, strategy and communication.

The DDBforum will be held for the first time in Berlin on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th June. The event is integrated within the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 – Sharing Heritage.

Many colleagues from different institutions and from all over Germany have already registered to take part – we are really looking forward to spending these two days exchanging expertise with you!
