Der Film enthält Aquariumsaufnahmen von schwimmenden Quallen der Nordsee. Von den Scyphozoen (Fortbewegung durch rhythmische Kontraktion des Schirmes) werden die Blaue Nesselqualle (Cyanca lamarcki), die Kompassqualle (Chrysaora hyoscella) und die Blumenkohlqualle (Rhizostoma octopus) gezeigt, von den Ctenophoren (Bewegung durch Schwimmplättchen) eine Gruppe von Stachelbeerquallen (Pleurobrachia pileus).
