Arabien, Hadramaut - Anfertigen eines Wassersackes

Eine Schafshaut wird in Wasser gelegt und im erweichten Zustand nach Löchern abgesucht, die nachher mit zugeschnittenen Lederstücken doppelseitig abgedeckt und mit einem dünnen Lederstreifen vernäht werden. Anschließend wird die hintere Öffnung des Wassersackes vernäht. Der Schuster aus Tarim teilt die Läufe in Hälften, dreht sie zusammen und stellt einen vorderen und einen hinteren Henkel aus ihnen her. Mit dem Abrunden der Halsöffnung ist der Wassersack fertiggestellt.
A sheepskin is soaked in water and, softened, is searched for any holes it may have. The holes are covered on both sides with skin bits and then sewn with a thin leather strip. After patching all the holes in this way the back opening of the water sack is sewn. The shoemaker halves the legs, twists them together and makes a handle in front and one behind. The water sack is finished by rounding the neck opening.
