The wind farm pressure field
Abstract p (x, y) is a harmonic function almost everywhere. It follows that the maximum and minimum pressure occur at the front and back edge of the farm. Over the farm, the favorable pressure gradient is constant and significantly offsets the turbine drag. Upwind and downwind of the farm, the pressure field is a dipole given by p (x, y) ≈ A x r - 2, where the coefficient A A and thus to estimate total farm drag.
