The motor function of the normal stomach is explained and documented by X-ray photography. Billroth I and Billroth II resection of the stomach are shown from a schematic representation. The chief differences between Billroth I and Billroth II motor functioning are shown. A concise discussion is also devoted to the complications which can arise after Billroth II resection (small stomach complaints, early dumping syndrome, advanced dumping syndrome, syndrome of the afferent loop, anastomosenulcus).
