Ein Schwarzspecht pickt Ameisen auf, meißelt Käferlarven aus einem dürren Baum, dringt mit der wurmartigen Zunge in einen Larvengang vor und zieht die aufgespießte Larve heraus (Großaufnahme).
A black woodpecker pecks at ants. He pecks insect larvae from a dead tree trunk. In close up it can be seen how the wormlike tongue intrudes into the path way of the larvae, spears the booty and withdraws. This is followed by scenes of the woodpecker's activities from a distance.
