The Future of Humanism : Contours of a Vital Debate

Zusammenfassung: The concept of the human is in a state of severe disrepair. Under pressure from technological change, environmental crisis, progress in the life sciences and new awareness of colonial histories, its clear neither what »the human« is nor what its value is. At the same time, the human is the lynchpin of our international and moral order, the focus of our de facto global religion, and the object of deepest moral loyalty. We need to refurbish it – but how?
