Bildunterschrift: There was an eccentric "tribe" in those days who had a most ludicrous little way of creeping in and squatting on other people's property; the more untenable the ground the more they gloated over their bravery and sagacity in getting there. They relied on the charity of the invaded tribe for food and clothing, and the means of communicating with their friends. It was a transient joy, but afforded them exquisite pleasure while it lasted.
