Data set: Diel patterns in stream nitrate concentration produced by in-stream processes

Abstract: High-frequency water quality data have a huge potential to improve our understanding of processes in streams and catchments. Here we present the raw data that has been analyzed in an article submitted to the scientific journal Biogeoscience (BG) (doi.org/10.5194/bg-2020-429)
Umfang und Inhalt: Here we provide a data set of continuous high-frequency stream nitrate measurements obtained at three monitoring sites (S1 (N 48.12188, E 7.83844), S2 (N 48.13165, E 7.80628), S3 (N 48.14025, E 7.78029)) along the river Elz (Southwest Germany) during the growing season (April to November) of 2019. Additionally, we provide recordings of water levels and water temperature at monitoring site S3 as well as global irradiance data obtained from a nearby climate station (N 48.10006, E 7.73456) operated by the chair of hydrology at the university of Freiburg
