Entanglement production by numerically optimized pulse design

Zusammenfassung: In this diploma thesis we derive numerical techniques designed to create control pulses that generate highly entangled states in an open quantum system. The control pulses are not constructed by optimizing the overlap with a given entangled target state, but instead by optimizing a lower bound of an entanglement measure for mixed states. This allows to find the entangled state which is best suited for a given physical system, in a natural way. The numerical algorithm is extended to find robust control pulses which are insensitive against experimental uncertainties, in a surprisingly wide error range
