Buntbarsch. Nur die Mutter betreibt Maulbrutpflege. Sie entläßt die Jungen aus dem Maul, die regen Kontakt zu ihr halten, und zwar um so stärker, je kontrastreicher sie gefärbt ist. Bei Beunruhigung nimmt sie die Jungen auf.
Cichlid. Only the mother fish practices mouthcare of the young. Here she releases them from her mouth. They maintain close contact to her: the closeness of the contact increases with increasing colour contrast. When alarmed, she takes her young in her mouth.
