Residence patterns in nineteenth century Hungary: Evidence from the Hungarian MOSAIC sample.

The MOSAIC project aimed to collect information on micro-census data preserved in different European countries and to build up an online database so as to open up new research possibilities on household structure and marriage patterns. The Hungarian MOSAIC sample is based on the data of the 1869 population census and consists of more than 6,000 households. We would like to better understand whether the different types of household formation can be linked to ethno-cultural variations, or if they are (at least partly) the results of special sorts of local possibilities of subsistence.
