La imagen antiepidémica de China en el Perú desde la perspectiva del análisis crítico del discurso

El presente trabajo analiza los reportajes publicados entre febrero y agosto de 2020 en dos periódicos del Perú en torno a la pandemia del nuevo coronavirus relacionados con China. Empleando el método de base de datos y la Teoría de Evaluación, se disecciona la actitud y la posición detrás de los titulares de dichas informaciones, descifrando la imagen de China a ojos de los medios de comunicación peruanos, y se revelan las relaciones reales entre China y el Perú, así como la ideología peruana subyacente a sus discursos. Este estudio descubre que los reportajes se basan en una actitud predominantemente positiva y que presentan a China con la imagen de una gran nación con alto nivel de gobernanza, con poderío científico y tecnológico y responsabilidad en diversos temas, lo que valida una posición del Perú basada en sus propios intereses reales de desarrollo. La actitud negativa en lo relativo al debate sobre el origen de la epidemia del coronavirus refleja la opción estratégica del Perú de “entre dos aguas” ante el regreso a la “Doctrina Monroe” de la Administración de Trump impuesta en la región latinoamericana por Estados Unidos.
Abstract: This paper studies the reports of China-related COVID-19 epidemic reports from Peru’s two major mainstream newspapers from February to August of 2020. Employing the database method and appraisal theory, it analyses the attitude behind the titles of the above reports, decodes the image of China in the eyes of the Peruvian media, and reveals the relations between China and Peru and the Peruvian ideology behind the discourse. The study finds that the reports are based on a positive attitude, and China are presented with the image of a great nation with high level of governance, strong scientific and technological strength and responsibility for several topics, which validates Peru’s observational perspective that is based on its own real development interests. The negative attitude on the issue of the debate over the origin of the coronavirus epidemic reflects Peru’s strategic choice to “sit on the fence” in the face of the U.S. Trump administration’s return to “Monroeism."
