Bibliotheken ohne Bibliothekar/innen? Qualifikationen für die wissenschaftliche Bibliothek

Die bibliothekarische Ausbildung befindet sich im Umbruch – oder sie sollte sich zumindest im Umbruch befinden, denn die Anforderungen verändern sich. An wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken bilden sich neue Aufgabenprofile für wissenschaftlich vorqualifizierte Bibliothekar/innen heraus, FaMIs jedoch werden oft weit unter ihrer Qualifikation eingesetzt. Gleichzeitig finden nur wenige IT-affine Bachelor-Studierende aus den bibliotheks- und informationswissenschaftlichen Studiengängen den Weg in die Bibliotheken. Grundständige Vermittlung der neuen Inhalte statt Häppchenkultur erfordert Mut, ist aber unausweichlich, wenn die Ausbildungswege robust bleiben sollen.
Abstract: The library science training is in flux – or at least it should be in flux, as the demands are changing. In scientific libraries, new tasks for scientifically qualified librarians develop, while FaMIs (Fachangestellte für Medien- und Informationsdienste; specialist for media and information services), are often employed for jobs far below their qualifications. At the same time, only a few bachelor students with affinity for IT matters coming from library and information science courses of study find their ways into the libraries. Fundamental teaching of the new contents instead of imparting morsels of knowledge requires courage but is inevitable if the training shall remain robust.
