El uso de adverbios locativos con pronombres posesivos en el español uruguayo: un análisis diacrónico y probabilístico

Abstract: This paper deals with the variable use of locative adverbial constructions such as (a) delante de mí - (a) delante mío in Uruguayan Spanish. It studies the uses of both variants, highlighting the diachronic process of linguistic change and the mechanisms underlying it. Based on a set of more than two thousand data points extracted from five comparable corpora, it describes and analyzes the linguistic contexts in which these constructions are used between 1900 and 2019. The results show that the probability of finding the innovative possessive variant increases with time and that this innovation is mainly diffused together with prefixed adverbs and with referents of the 1st and 2nd persons of the singular (as in a-delante mío and a-trás tuyo). When comparing these observations with those previously obtained with data from Spain, the results show that Uruguayan and Peninsular Spanish share a probabilistic grammar of this morphosyntactic variation, displaying highly similar trends concerning its linguistic constraints (person grammar, grammatical number, type of locative).
