Florentinischer Bildhauer Giuliano de’ Medici c. 1480. Marmor Giuliano de’ Medici (1453-1478) war der jüngere Bruder von Lorenzo il Magnifico. Infolge einer Verschwörung, angeführt von der rivalisierenden Familie Pazzi, wurden Lorenzo und Giuliano während der Ostermesse in der Kathedrale von Florenz angegriffen. Lorenzo überlebte, Giuliano nicht. Dieses Porträt wurde wahrscheinlich nach diesem tragischen Tod zur Erinnerung an Giuliano geschaffen. Florentine sculptor Giuliano de’ Medici c. 1480. Marble Giuliano de’ Medici (1453-1478) was the younger brother of Lorenzo the Magnificent. As a result of a conspiracy plotted by the rival Pazzi family, Lorenzo and Giuliano were attacked during the Easter mass in Florence Cathedral. Lorenzo survived, Giuliano did not. This portrait was probably carved after this tragic death, to commemorate Giuliano’s memory. Erworben 1888 Inv. 190
